Bone Broth Rice Pilaf
Fragrant basmati rice toasted in butter and cooked in BC bone broth with herbs and aromatics. The easiest upgrade to your everyday rice. Prep Time: 5 min | Cook Time: 20 min | Serves: 4 The Story Rice pilaf is the simplest way to show someone what bone broth can do. Swap water for NourishYourself bone broth and suddenly your everyday side dish is fragrant, flavourful, and genuinely nourishing — with zero extra effort. Ingredients 400ml NourishYourself Beef Bone Broth 200g basmati rice, rinsed until water runs clear 1 small onion, finely diced 2 cloves garlic, minced 2 tbsp butter 1 bay leaf ½ tsp turmeric (optional, for colour) Salt and pepper Fresh herbs to finish: parsley, dill, or chives Method Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Sauté onion until soft and translucent, about 4 minutes. Add garlic and cook 1 minute more. Add rinsed rice and stir to coat in the butter. Toast 2 minutes until grains smell nutty. Add bone broth, bay leaf, turmeric if using, and a generous pinch of salt. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to the lowest setting. Cover tightly and cook 15 minutes — do not lift the lid. Remove from heat. Let steam, covered, for 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork. Remove bay leaf. Finish with fresh herbs and serve. Why This Works Toasting the rice in butter before adding liquid is the pilaf technique that separates fluffy, separate grains from sticky, clumped rice — and bone broth makes every grain taste like it was seasoned from the inside out.
